A welcoming mixed coarse fishery with 11 pegs, island features and excellent opportunities for tench fishing.
Avocet Pool is one of the smaller waters within the H&DAA Brough Fishery Complex. Covering approximately 1 to 1½ acres, it offers an intimate and attractive setting with island features and a good variety of coarse fish.
The venue is particularly suitable for beginners, juniors and pleasure anglers, although seasonal weed growth can provide an interesting challenge for more experienced anglers.

Avocet is particularly well known for its tench fishing, with fish reported up to approximately 6lb. The variety of species makes it an enjoyable venue for anglers using traditional coarse fishing methods.
Float fishing, pole fishing, ledgering, feeder fishing and method feeder tactics can all produce results. The summer months can be particularly rewarding, although weed growth may require careful swim preparation.

With its compact layout and varied fish population, Avocet is considered a particularly good water for beginners and junior anglers.
Access & Parking
Avocet is accessed through the H&DAA Brough Fishery Complex. Members should follow the established fishery access route and use the combination-operated entrance gate.
Parking is available off the road behind the fishing pegs. Please keep access routes clear, park considerately and ensure the entrance gate is secured after use.
Some areas may be suitable for anglers with limited mobility, although the venue is only considered partly accessible. Members should assess the route and their chosen peg before setting up.

Safety & Respect for the Venue
Deep water is present close to the bank. Members should take particular care around the water’s edge, especially when accompanied by children or less experienced anglers.
Weed growth is a natural feature of this water. Members are advised to bring suitable equipment for careful swim preparation where permitted and to avoid unnecessary disturbance to wildlife.

3Close and secure the fishery gate after entering or leaving.
Before You Fish
Members must comply with the current H&DAA rules and any additional notices displayed at the venue. Standard daytime fishing hours are 5am to 10pm. Night fishing requires the appropriate authorisation where applicable.
