A well-established mixed fishery offering plenty of variety, with carp, tench, bream, quality perch and a good range of silver fish.
Burshill A is a genuine mixed fishery and offers something for a wide range of anglers. Carp are present to around 20lb, with tench to approximately 8–9lb, bream to 7–8lb and perch potentially reaching 3–4lb.
The pond can provide good fishing throughout the year and is suitable for a variety of traditional stillwater methods. During the summer the lilies become a significant feature of the water and can make fishing more challenging, but anglers who take the time to understand the pond can still enjoy some excellent sport.
With numerous species present, nearby parking, toilets and two relatively accessible pegs, Burshill A is also one of the Association’s more suitable venues for beginners and those wanting plenty of different species to target.

The pond can be fished successfully using float, ledger, feeder and method-feeder tactics. With such a varied stock, anglers can choose between targeting individual larger fish or fishing for bites from the pond’s mixed species.
Fishing can be productive throughout the year. During the summer the lilies become much more prominent and can make some areas challenging, so accurate fishing and becoming familiar with the pond are important.

Access & Parking
Access to Burshill A is via Hempholme Lane. Continue down the lane and enter through the last Hull & District Anglers’ Association gate.
There is plenty of parking available, with space on either the left or right. Please park sensibly and avoid obstructing access for other members.
Accessibility & Facilities
Burshill A is partly suitable for anglers with limited mobility. The two pegs immediately to the right after entering through the main gate offer the easiest access.
With nearby parking, accessible pegs and toilet facilities, the venue may be more suitable than many of the Association’s more natural waters for anglers who require easier access.

The mixed stock and range of fishing methods also make Burshill A suitable for beginners and family fishing, provided normal waterside supervision and safety precautions are followed.
Safety & Respect
Burshill A is a deep water. Members should take normal precautions around the banks and ensure children and less experienced anglers are appropriately supervised.
H&DAA Rules
All members fishing Brands – Burshill A must comply with the current Hull & District Anglers’ Association Rules, observe all notices displayed at the fishery and ensure gates are left locked and secure.
Hull & District Anglers’ Association
Membership of HDAA is open to anyone who agrees to abide by our common-sense Fishery Rules. All membership permits run from 1st Jan to 31st December annually. Membership allows angling on most of the Association’s venues from 5.00am to 10.00pm (except Carlton on Trent where the start time is 7.00am).
