Brandesburton Burshill A Pond

Burshill A is a pond of about 1½ acres and was created and developed as a pleasure fishery.

Burshill A is a pond of about 1½ acres and was originally created as a pleasure fishery. It is one of two ponds in the Burshill Fishery, part of the Brandesburton Complex. Unlike the neighbouring pits, it is shallow and flat-bottomed and has been heavily stocked with small fish of most species to make the fishing easy. However, there are specimens present, with a few big carp, tench over 6lb, crucian carp to 3lb-plus and perch to over 2lb.

Burshill A has been the focus of a major improvement and development project which includes an upgrade of pegs including adding several new ones, an improved access path and the installation of a new onsite toilet. Many of the large carp have been relocated to 3&4 Pond, with significant numbers of bream, tench, crucians and roach introduced to replace them and improve sport for members. In addition, our efforts to reduce the excessive growth of lilies and weed are showing real signs of improvement, and our regular treatments will continue.

A stocking of 700lb of bream with a size of between 4-6lb was made in January 2024.

Sheltered from the wind with high-quality access, pegs and facilities, the Association is determined that Burshill A will offer its general anglers comfortable fishing with a regular bend in your rod.
