From traditional membership booklets to today’s membership cards — a look at how H&DAA membership has evolved over the decades.
Our archives contain a collection of historic membership books, year books and fishing permits, reflecting the changing face of the Association over the years.
These small documents offer a fascinating insight into the history of angling in Hull and East Yorkshire.
For many decades, members received a small year book containing their details, Association information and proof of membership.
During the 1980s and early 1990s, the Association appears to have temporarily replaced printed books with paper membership permits, possibly to reduce costs.
In 2003, the traditional membership book evolved into a larger, more comprehensive Information Book, while members began receiving a separate plastic membership card as proof of membership.

Do You Have an Old H&DAA Membership Book?
Our earliest surviving book dates from 1950, and we are particularly interested in locating books from 1983 to 1994, for which our archive currently has gaps.
If you have an older book, permit or other historical membership document, we would appreciate the opportunity to photograph or scan it for our archive.
Every old membership book helps tell the story of Hull & District Anglers’ Association. If you have something to contribute, please get in touch.
