Fishing at Kingfisher

Kingfisher offers excellent mixed-species fishing, with carp, common bream, tench, roach, rudd, perch, eels and chub all present.

Roach and rudd over 1lb have been caught, while tench to around 6lb and perch to 3lb have also been recorded. Larger fish are certainly possible, and the variety of species means anglers never quite know what their next bite might produce.

Float and pole fishing are particularly effective. The venue bailiff also reports success with spinning and drop-shotting, subject to the Association’s current rules. The warmer spring and summer months can provide particularly productive fishing, often with plenty of bites throughout the day.

Tips from the Venue Bailiff

Feed little and often. Fish respond well to small, regular amounts of feed.

Look for clear spots. Some areas contain thick weed, so take care when positioning your tackle.

Try different areas. If one spot is quiet, explore another. Fish can sometimes be concentrated in particular parts of the pond.

A Great Place to Learn to Fish

Kingfisher is arguably one of H&DAA’s best venues for juniors, families and beginners. The pond is used for coaching and angling development, offering an ideal setting to learn basic techniques, build confidence and enjoy the sport.

All fishing pegs are accessible on foot, with designated accessible pegs available. Some pegs involve a short walk from the car park, and vehicles cannot be driven directly to the swims.
