A mature, purpose-built carp water of approximately 3½ acres, offering 15 well-spaced pegs and carp from single figures to over 30lb.
Grebe Pond was designed and created from scratch on land purchased next to the original H&DAA site at Brough. The lake has matured into an attractive carp fishery with reed-lined margins and a variety of underwater features including bars, gullies and plateaux.
The elongated C-shape of the water means locating the fish is particularly important. Carp can move around the lake quickly, so keeping disturbance and noise to a minimum can make a real difference.
Grebe fishes throughout the year and recent catches demonstrate its potential, including a 31lb carp recorded during the 2026 season.
Grebe is a dedicated carp water, with fish ranging from single figures through to specimens exceeding 30lb.
The lake contains plenty of features to explore, including bars, gullies, plateaux and reed-lined margins. Finding the fish is considered more important than any particular bait or rig.
Ledgering, feeder fishing, method-feeder fishing and surface fishing are all suitable approaches. Use tactics, rigs and baits that you have confidence in and concentrate on locating feeding or moving fish.
The carp fight extremely hard and takes can be savage, so strong, reliable tackle is important and rods should always be properly secured.

Grebe Pond is situated within the H&DAA Brough Complex. Enter through the main complex gate and use the site map to locate the pond.
The complex has a security access gate. The access code is supplied with membership and gates must be securely closed after entering and leaving.
Peg-side parking is available behind all pegs. Please park considerately, do not obstruct other anglers and avoid parking within the boundary of pegs, particularly during wet weather when vehicle damage to the ground is more likely.
Grebe Pond is considered suitable for members with limited mobility. The 15 pegs are large and well spaced, and the size of the swims allows two anglers to fish from the same peg where assistance or companionship is required.
Fishing times: Grebe Pond is open from 5:00am until 10:00pm.
Night fishing: Night fishing is only permitted for members holding the appropriate C Class Night Permit.
Landing net: A minimum 36-inch landing net is required.
Unhooking mat: Members must carry and use a suitable unhooking mat.
Grebe has deep margins and members should take care when approaching the water’s edge. During winter and prolonged wet weather the banks can become muddy and slippery.
Grebe has matured into an established fishery with reed-lined margins and plenty of natural habitat. Please respect all wildlife around the pond and leave the venue as you would wish to find it.
All members fishing Grebe Pond must comply with the current Hull & District Anglers’ Association Rules and all venue-specific requirements. Remember that a minimum 36-inch landing net and suitable unhooking mat are required, and night fishing is only permitted with the appropriate C Class Night Permit.
