Following the announcement on the 7th January from the Angling Trust regarding the reopening of angling during the current lockdown, Association officials can now announce that H&DAA venues will reopen from Saturday 9th January, the only exception being Willows Pond, which will reopen Sunday 10th January.
The Angling Trust statement makes it clear that “fishing is allowed as exercise so long as participants adhere to the rules on staying local, gathering limits, social distancing and limiting the time spent outdoors.” This permits angling during the “day” and specifically states “no overnight fishing whatsoever”. We have interpreted this as meaning ‘daylight fishing’ - therefore our venues will be open to angling by members from sunrise to sunset.
The Angling Trust guidance also states that, “To remain within the law you should follow the government’s rules, and only fish locally within the district where you live”. The definition of ‘local’ and ‘district’, is in our opinion open to interpretation and therefore members must use their own best judgement and be responsible for their own actions and abide by the spirit of the government’s guidance and regulations.
