Each month the best Adult and Junior catches will be selected from the entries submitted and published on this page.

Publication will be after the delegates meeting each month, so for example the winner of Octobers competition will be published as soon as possible after the meeting on the in November.

This will give the opportunity for catches made late in the month to be entered.

The prize will not always be awarded to the biggest fish but will take into account all information given about the catch. All runners up will have a picture published in the Best of The Rest Gallery.

All catch of the month winners will automatically be considered for the Specimen fish competition at the end of the year.

November 2011

Adult Competition

This months adult competition was a battle between two fine braces of fish.

Matthew ward with a brace of pike from Motorway pond and Craig Marsham with a brace of carp from Osprey.

After a close vote at the delegates meeting it was decided that our adult winner this month is Craig Marsham.

Craig fished a guest session on Osprey before the work party on the 12th of November. It was Craigs first session on the venue, and he managed to land 2 fish.

The Leather at 15lb, was landed at 9am on a Sticky Baits XS boilie fished snowman style with a mainline pro-active pineapple pop up.

This fish was witnessed by Matthew Ward, Kieran Marling, Martin Hardy & Derek Pye.

The common was also caught on this session, at 2am using the same bait and weighing in at 21lb.

Matt fised a day sesion at Motorway Pond. He landed three fish in total the two Pike pictured below and a small Jack

The 14lb Pike  was landed on a float fished roach dead bait on the bottom, cast to a reed line as was the small fish.

The 16lb fish was landed on a large lamprey section, cast to the edge of a drop off injected with 10ml of lamprey oil and lamprey blood.

The  two large fish were witnessed by Colin Ramshaw, all fish were safely returned to the water.

December 2011

Adult Competition

Our Adult winner for December is Matt Ward with a 20lb 4oz Pike heres Matts report of the capture.

The fish was caught at Motorway Pond on the 6th of December using a large Lamprey section fished in a deep area 15 yards off the island.

The large lamprey head had been re-cast only once on a very sunny day. I had an idea the fish were going to feed between the cloud moving over and dusk. The rod indicated a take at around 3.40pm, I wound down and set the trebles and the fish darted stripping the braid from a hard set drag. The roach in the area scattered as the fish darters through them. Maintaining pressure the fish kited to the right staying deep, she fought hard under the tip until I slipped her into the net.

The excitement knowing I had a good fish I went in search of Steve and Colin who witnessed the weighing and Colin took the photographs.

My first 20 of the season, extremely pleased!

Matt Ward

December 2011

Junior Competition

We had two junior entries this month both Pike one from Will Jubb and one from Harry Simpson. Due to our Adult winner kindly donating his £25 of vouchers back to the club both Junior entries are to receive £25 of vouchers Matt hopes that this will encourage more Junior anglers to enter the competition.

Harry Simpson

Harry caught a 12 pound pike at Brandesburton 3 and 4 pond in very wet conditions. This is the third time Harry has featured on these pages.

Will Jubb

Young will Jubb has spent a fair bit of time Pike fishing since the beginning of the season and I have met him a couple of times on the bank and he is becoming a very dedicated and accomplished angler. Will entered three fish for December weighing 15lb, 14lb and 13lb.

A note to all people entering the competition. Please provide as much information as possible about your catches i.e. area you were fishing, depth the bait you were using the weather conditions this information makes it much easier for the comittee to pick winneres for the competition i.e. you may have caught a very good fish but may lose out to another entry if you have not detailed your catch.

Also the more information you provide makes it easier for me to produce a good report of your catch on these pages.
