Hull & District Match Squad Report

The Squad has had a brilliant year, starting with the NFA North East

Region Championship fished on the Stainforth & Keadby Canal at

Thorne, with 16 teams of 12 competing. A very pleasing result saw us

winning the event for the first time in a great many years. Notable

successes included Phil Iveson coming 2nd overall with 18lb. of chub.

We then moved on to the Drennan North East – Teams of Eight, with

18 teams competing. The Squad tasted success again by winning the

series, with an unrivalled three match wins, two seconds and a fourth in

another. The Squad’s strength in depth showed with Paul Hostick winning

the individual crown and Scott Rispin finishing 2nd, qualifying them both

for the ‘All Winners’ final to be held in early 2009.

Our successful year was capped by us also winning the Humberside

Ancholme League, four wins from the six match series proving far too

consistent for the opposition. We look forward to continued success in

2009.
