The Brough Fishery Complex

The Brough Complex is now mostly open for fishing. Kingfisher Pond is open for junior members and for coaching sessions only. Hawk Pond is now fully open via use of the completed pegs. Osprey Pond is now open for members with the appropriate Osprey Pond permit. Channel Pond remains CLOSED.

This former British Aerospace pond is well known to local anglers and has a reputation for producing specimen fish, particularly pike and tench. Prior to the Association's purchase of the site there was one large pond with a side channel and a second shallow pond that was almost reeded up. Since purchasing the site the Association has spent well over £120,000 on its development. Additionally, a small number of members have given well over 4,000 hours on volunteer to the project. When finally completed the complex will provide five separate fisheries offering the membership a range of angling experiences.

If you would like to help with the development of this complex, please contact Derek Pye on 07811 897033 to volunteer. Alternatively go to the Events page to fine the dates of future work parties.

Kingfisher Pond - is the newly dug pond that is being developed primarily as a training facility for the Association's qualified angling coaches whilst running induction courses for young people who we hope will become the future generation of anglers. This pond will be stocked predominantly with a mixture of silver fish.

Hawk Pond - is a five-acre lake that was formed when the "arm" across the main lake was extended. This also provided for full vehicle access around the venue, it allows for parking next to the pegs thereby eliminating the need to carry tackle long distances. This pond now accommodates up to 40 anglers on pegs that, as far as possible, are wheelchair accessible. The venue contains excellent stocks of tench, plus roach, rudd, perch, pike and carp. In 2008 anglers reported tench to 7lb 12oz , bream to 12lb, carp over 18lb and pike over 20lb.

Osprey Pond - This is the largest lake on the complex at roughly 17 acres in size. It is being developed as a big fish water. Access to this venue is only available to holders of a special Osprey Permit; these are currently limited to a maximum of 50. Permits are regulated through a waiting list.

Avocet Pool (Open Spring 2010) - a newly dug pond on the east bank of the complex.

Cygnet Pond (CLOSED) - is the narrow pond on the western side of the site. Previously this was connected to the main pond but the association reinforced the dividing land and separated the two ponds completely. This pond will accommodate about 15 anglers and it is envisaged it will be developed as a match pond
